Trump is obsessed with Dr. Fauci because a million Americans died and the people responsible need someone else to blame.
Philosopher René Girard called this the scapegoat mechanism. When a group cannot face its own failure it finds one person to carry all the blame. Fauci said get vaccinated, wear masks, socially distance. Republicans said no to all of it. A million people died. Now they want to prosecute the one person who tried to save them. The diary proved nothing. No investigation has produced evidence of wrongdoing. It does not matter. The scapegoat is never chosen because of evidence. The scapegoat is chosen because the group needs someone to carry what they cannot carry themselves.
